If you are using the Gen 1 Universal Optic Adapter & you want to use the new Smart Bracket or Mag Plate you will need one of these. The new GEN 2 Universal Optic Adapters have a dual thread option where the GEN 1 Adapters had just 1. The Smart Bracket and the Mag Plate use the smaller thread. This matching ring will allow the older GEN 1 Universal Optic Adapter to work on the new products.

I don’t love the product. I don’t know if it is my phone or the adapter that I don’t like. Seems as soon as I put my phone on it the cameras decide to change so I can never get it to focus on my scope lense

Very tight tolerance hold universal adapter to old style ring securely. Does not come loose on ring when universal adapter is unscrewed.

Not sure why I needed this. I was told the black universal adapter was the Gen 1 and I would need this adapter ring to make it work with the new phone mount and the green was the Gen 2 which I didn’t need this adapter ring for.
I have an older black one and I got this in and don’t need it. I have threads already for it. I was also sent another black adapter with my go pro kit and it too already has both sets of threads needed.
This adapter ring is of no use to me and not sure why I was told I needed it.

Ordered the “NEW” MAG PLATE Universal Digiscoping kit. The initial kit I received had some “sticking” issues when clamping down on my Swarovski eyepiece. Contacted customer service and they were quick to respond and extremely helpful. They sent me a new kit right away and it is working flawlessly. Very frustrated and disappointed with this item. I was excited at first because I thought ‘cool my gen 1 adapter is still useful’. Reading the website it seemed like if I had the gen 1 adapter, and I bought this ring then I’d be good to go. That is not the case as it turns out, this causes the phone to be positioned behind the scope an additional 1/8″ at least maybe more compared to what the gen 2 adapter will be and that’s a very big difference in lenses. I reached out via text and the person responding was extremely helpful and after some diagnosis sent me a coupon to get a gen 2 adapter ordered, which I appreciated and promptly did do, but I would have been money and time ahead had I just ordered the gen 2 kit for $124 to begin with. As it turned out I spent 10 extra bucks (thankfully that’s all, it would have been a lot more without the coupon) plus I will have to wait another week or so to be able to use it, and the biggest irritant of all is all the time I spent messing around with it trying to get it to work. If I had a 2x optical zoom camera, this match ring might work fine. I think this product should at least include a warning that the match ring with a gen 1 adapter is not the same thing as having a gen 2 adapter. It might not make sense shipping wise but have you considered offering to thread people’s gen 1 adapters if they send them in? Anyways, I strongly suggest you make the product description clear that using this ring with a gen 1 adapter is not the same as a gen 2 adapter, and you’ll probably need an optical zoom camera to be able to make it work, or just stop offering it altogether.
